Designated Space Policy

The Library reserves the right to limit access to and use of Designated Spaces for specific audiences or purposes.  Designated Space areas include the “Porch” of the Canyon Country Library, which is defined as the outside, enclosed area adjacent to the north side of the Library.

The Library recognizes that certain environments promote learning and may have time, place, and manner of use for certain areas at the Library to promote orderly access of such areas and efficient use of Library resources by Library patrons.

The City Librarian is authorized to develop and promulgate guidelines pertaining to the utilization of Designated Spaces within the Library and to amend such from time to time as deemed appropriate.  All such Designated Spaces policies are to be displayed within the designated premises.

The “Porch” area of the Library will be accessible between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. for use by the participants of that day’s “story time” event. Use of the “Porch” is reserved for children (birth through 5 years of age), their parents, caregivers, guardians, and adults who work with or on behalf of children.  Children must remain within the supervision of their parents, caregivers, or guardians at all times.  Capacity at this area will be limited to 49 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis.  All participants must follow all rules established by the Library, including the Code of Conduct.
