HOLDS PICK UP

 

What is Curbside Service?

Curbside Service allows patrons to pick up physical library materials that have been placed on hold. Each SCPL location has designated parking spots clearly marked by signage for service during the library’s closure.

When can I pick up items using Curbside Service?

Curbside Service is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at all three SCPL locations: Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, Old Town Newhall Library and Valencia Library.

Who can use this service?

All SCPL cardholders can utilize the service. You must provide your library card number or driver’s license number to receive the items on hold that are ready to be picked up.

How do I use the Curbside Service?

Using our Curbside Service is easy.  Simply follow these steps:

  • Place items on hold using the Library website catalog http://www.santaclaritalibrary.com/.
  • Once you are notified by the Library that your item is available, go to the Library’s designated Curbside Pickup Location. These spots will be clearly marked by signage at each location.
  • Call 661-259-0750, and be prepared to give your library card or driver’s license number.
  • Library staff will prepare your items for pickup and deliver them to the table.
  • Please stay in your vehicle until library staff has retreated past the red safety line, as social distancing procedures are strictly followed.

Will I lose my HOLD items if I do not pick up during the library closure?

Yes, if the items are not picked up within 10 days of the system hold notification, the hold will expire and the item will be held for the next patron in the queue.

 Can I place new holds and pick them up?

Absolutely!  Patrons can place holds online at http://www.santaclaritalibrary.com/.  However, we cannot guarantee the items would be immediately available for pick-up.

What if I don’t have a cell phone?

If you do not have a cell phone to call us from the parking lot, please call the location curbside number and schedule an appointment for pick-up with our staff. Our staff will place the materials on the pick-up table at the scheduled time.

 

No returns will be accepted in-person by library staff.

 I don’t currently have any holds to pick up, but I really need something to read.
