There are a bunch of recipes online for soothing shower tabs, but this one from a mom’s impression looked relatively easy so I decided to try it out. You only need corn starch, vapor rub, water, and a mold! Please note the purpose of these tabs is purely for easing discomfort.
1 Cup corn starch
3 Tablespoons vapor rub (Vicks or other eucalyptus vapor rub)
4-6 Tablespoons water
Soap coloring (optional)
Mix everything together until you get a paste with no dry cornstarch. I ended up needing 6 Tablespoons of water to get the right consistency.
Fill the mold (I used silcone, but you could also use a mini muffin pan or just free-form the tabs), and place in the freezer for a couple hours.
After a few hours you should have a firm tab, and these can be stored in a container or bag in the freezer. To use them place the tab in your shower or a sink, turn on your hot water, and let the hot water and steam interact with the vapor rub. the vapor rub might make surfaces slippery, so if you use this in the shower, place it by the drain or another area you don’t normally step, but the water will still hit it.
